Character Building

Zero and Cherrio are our dogs.  Zero is a 6 year old Jack Russell mix and Cherrio is a 2 year old Beagle.  They are two crazy, affectionate, little dogs.  However, they are smelly, they shed hair/fur everywhere.  They are always brining dirt into the house.  They dig.  They dig all of the time.  I think they have a plan to tunnel out of the yard or under the shed.  They escape the yard.  And they poop.

So why have them?

1.  They're our kids best friends.  They are always happy to see them.

2.  Good healthy activity.  Our dogs love to play and are very active.  The dogs are a great way to get the kids out of the house and off of the video games.  They go for walks and play outside.

3.  Develop Skills.  By spending time with the dogs my kids are learning skill and responsibility by caring for and spending time with them.

4.  Our dogs are fun.  They just want to be loved and love you back.  They will always be there for my kids no matter what.

So I can live with the smelly little varmints because of all of the wonderful things they add to my family.  So the next time one of them does their business in the house guess who gets to clean it up.  Yep, you probably guessed it.  (Jack and Henry.  Clair's day is coming) Dad always called that stuff character building.   I guess that crazy old man knew what he was talking about.

  1. I love your dad's way of building character...and you're following in his footsteps! Very slick and suave Mr. Wilcox!

  2. Our house hold is very similar, our dog is part of the family and my kids best friend, and guess what I get to clean up all the messes also.
