My dog, Killer.
My first pet was a dog from the Joplin Humane Society on September 2nd, 1984. It was the day I turned nine years old. He was a small white dog with a brown spot just on his tail.
I named him Killer. Killer was small and white. I don't know how old he was when I got him but he was already full grown. Killer was the best dog I have ever had. He couldn't fetch a stick or ball. He would never stay and only sit on command occasionally. Killer was the best dog not because of what he could or couldn't do. He was the best dog because he was always with me. He followed my everywhere I went.
When I walked to the bus stop, he was with me. When the bus from school dropped us off for home Killer was there at the bus stop waiting for me. Whenever I went to a friends house, Killer waited outside for me. When I would go on vacation with my family , Killer would be waiting in the driveway for me to get home!
Killer grew old. He lost most of his sight and hearing and couldn't get around very well. I spent nine awesome years with Killer before he passed away.
I am very thankful to have a dog like Killer.

ReplyDeleteI started out laughing so hard at the beginning of your story and then, there was a point that my laughing stopped and I knew...I just knew this dog story about a dog named Killer, that is hilarious all in itself naming your dog, Killer, that this story was going to have a sad ending. Mr. Wilcox...I'm crying...what a wonderful dog Killer was, but couldn't you have fibbed at the end?!
